Thinking of fitting these to my 86 Lux.

What size spacers will I need?

What size tyres do I use?

Do I need to be carefull when buying or will all standard looking Boxster wheels fit.

All comments appreciated,

Mike

There are 2 numbers each side of the valvestem - one is the rim width (in inches) and the other the offset (in mm).

The link in the FAQ will explain what these mean[:)]

Thanks Mark,

Can not see any numbers, Are they on the inside. Please dont say I have to remove the tyre.

Will my standard teledials be the same Front and back?

I think boxster wheels may be bigger on the rear.

Mike

No numbers?
Weird. I thought teledials had them - almost all Porsche Wheels do...
They should be on the outside. Any 944 owners care to hazard a guess?

If I recall correctly, it depends on the 944 and how it was specced whether the wheels are bigger at the back - some were. The 16" Boxster wheels certainly are different (6" wide at the front, 7" wide at the back). I haven't got the offsets handy though (sorry).

I think you will need big spacers for the boxter wheels as 86 cars have the pre-abs offsets.

I know I needed 25mm spacers on the front on my 1988 944S when I put 993 cup wheels on mine. (No ABS here either).

Unfortunately they didn't start putting the size and offset by the valve until the Design 90 wheels came out [:(]

The manual for an '86 car should have the correct sizes in the back but this website http://members.rennlist.org/951_racerx/ lists that standard for an '86 car they should be 15" x 7" with an offset of 23.3 mm front and rear

Then use this excellent website http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html to put in the size and offset of the Boxster wheels and it will tell you what size spacer you need. Bear in mind that good quality spacers of around the 25mm mark will cost over £200 for a set of four []

Whoops! Sorry about that Mike - the memory must be going! (I had teledials on my 1st 944 - a Lux. I was sure I remembered the sizes being shown!)

Thanks Paul for the correction[:)]

Thanks Paul,

I have just measured the wheels on the car with a tape just to give me some idea.

I have 15"x 7" wheels with aprox. 30mm offset, not a bad guess.
