17" 993 Turbo Wheels on a 986 Boxster

Can anybody please help.

I have purchased a set of used 17" Turbo Alloys with tyres for my 986 Boxster but im not sure if they will fit straight on my car or if i need any spacers etc.

I have just won them on ebay so im not actually in possesion of them yet.
The seller said he has taken them off a 993 Carrera 4.

They are 17" which is the same size as the ones im replacing but im not sure if the offset will be the same.

Can anybody put my mind at rest ?

Regards

Karl.

FYI 993 17 wheels are 7J ET 55 front and 9J ET 55 rear. They certainly haven't come off a 993 as they would not fit with those offsets (not even close).

I emailed the seller and asked about this as the offset is wrong for a 993. Those look like replica turbos made for early 944s and 911SCs. If you want to know how they will fit on your car have a look here:

At a rough guess the rears may stick out too far and you won't be able to sort this with spacers.

Thanks Paul

I'll give them a try when they arrive on tuesday but It looks like they might be going straight back on ebay then.

Cheers

Think this is what you need (fairly sure they are replicas if the rear offset is 47, Porsche ones are 52 iirc):

Thanks Paul

Bit of an impulse purchase those alloys.
I'm learning some very valuable lessons in wheel offsets this week.

Cheers for your help.

Let us know how you get on anyway, with pics if poss. please.
PS I doubt you will find the wheels hard to sell if they don't fit, they always seem to be quite a popular upgrade for early 944s.

Thanks Paul

Ive had another crazy brainwave.
The reason i wanted the turbo alloys was because i was bored with the 'standard issue' late 90's 17" wheels on my seal grey boxster. If i decided to keep them I was wondering what they would look like if i had them colour coded in seal grey or maybe even black. They have the potential to look rubbish but on the other hand might look mint.

Has anybody done this already or got any thoughts, pics etc ?

Cheers

Karl.

If you are referring to the 996 Carrera 2 alloys (see http://www.944racing.de/reload.php?urltogo=http://www.944racing.de/felgengewichte.html and I've also seen them called 'Technologie' wheels) I know what you mean. Never liked mine and replaced them with 17" Sport Classics. Unfortunately, they are quite hard to keep clean from brake dust, especially on the front so I've just got a set of 18" turbos that I have to have refurbished and fitted with tyres.
Think one of the guys on Boxa.net colour coded theirs. Renntech.org might be another place to look. Seal grey wheels would probably look pretty good, and you could Photoshop it before doing anything to get a rough idea.

... the 'standard issue' late 90's 17" wheels on my seal grey boxster.

17" were never standard on the Boxster - so I'm not sure which ones you mean?

Or is your's a Boxster S? - in which case there were 2 different standard 17" wheels, depending on the model year.

Which ones do you have?

The ebay ones look to be replicas, the "alternative link" ones are genuine Porsche.

These were option wheels on a Boxster - not standard.

I take Mark's point about 17" wheels not being standard on early Boxsters, but many more seem to have them than the 16" ones -- so a defacto standard wheel...?
I seem to recall that they were part of the Lux pack?
