Got my 17inch wheels fitted on my 86 Lux now and have been playing around with tyre pressures. Started with 34 front & 36 rear. Car was 'OK' but steering felt more pointy than before. Turn-in not that good & tramlining was evident. Reduced pressure in the front to 32 and, oh dear, Tramlined all over the place. Lots of kickback through the wheel...generally not nice. Car basically wanted to drive itself. Then tried 36 in the fronts...WOW ! No more tramlining! Steering feels good again (not much different to old 195's) with good feel and good turn-in. Don't think I need the 968 castor mounts for now.Amazing how much difference 2psi can make on the fronts. I fitted the new Kuhmo KU31 tyres and I have to say I am impressed. Ride is firmer than before, but ,more compliant than I was expecting having come up from 15inch wheels. Noise levels are very low and grip is impressive. Not tried it in the wet yet, but, the roads were greasy this morning and the car felt very stable. They look great too ! []
