I am still looking into the idea of changing the wheels on my 89 turbo.I have seen another picture of a 968 turbo s with 18 inch alloys on it(in one of my porsche books).Has anyone else seen the pictures i am on about, and what wheels they are(and would they fit!)?The rims look stunning, and i am thinking the hubs should be the same as my turbo.
Can anyone help?
Andrew.

I think they had cup 1 split rims

The actual rims a Speedline by Porsche ones as also used on the 964 3.6 Turbo 2. Expect to pay £3k+ for them. You can get replicas of them for £850 from a place in the north west - check eBay.

I suspect the replicas might be heavy (but have nothing concrete to base that on). The 964 Turbo I nearly bought had the reps on it and they look OK. I know someone with similar wheels in 17" on his 944 and although it's garaged, used only in decent weather, the wheels are only 2 or so years old and he's a multiple concourse winner they are still corroding around the (fake) bolts on the rims.

They are a nice idea, but I think I'll hold out for 17" Cup 1's to replace the awful Boxster things on my 964.

I've just this week put a set of the 18" veloce 3.6 wheels (the 964 turbo 2 replicas) on my '91 turbo.

I was concerned about the weight but they are pretty light, only being a little heavier than the design 90's that I took off. The car drives alot better than I thought it would too, especially due to some of the warnings of adverse handling you read about. Its only been fast roaded so far but it feels fine.

I got the wheels from performance wheel supplies (PWS1994 on ebay), who was excellent, really couldn't fault the service and advice.

I couldnt be happier with the wheels (unless they were the real ones of course), they look stunning, perfectly fitting the arches and showing off the calipiers (which I'll have to start cleaning a littler better now!).

They are exactly the ones I was talking about. It's good they aren't heavy, though I suppose I still have a concern over the likelihood of corrosion on a car used year-round that would still stop me buying them for my 964.

The Veloce wheels look great and very much like the 968 turbo wheels. I also like the Krone alloys you often see on 911 race cars.

I do love the style of those wheels, be they genuine or replicas, they would look ace on LIL [:)]

Will is there any chance you could weigh your wheels and tyres and compare with the D90s next time you have them off and have some bathroom scales handy?

I wish I had done this when I was fitting them but the excitment of new wheels got the better of me! I'll try and remember next time there off.
