18" wheel size for 993 Targa

From the reading I've done on the subject, it appears that Porsche never formally approved 18s for the 993 Targa but that doesn't mean that they can't in practice be fitted and work perfectly well.

There's at least one person on the 911UK forum that does so (I asked as I'm considering putting 18" Carrera 2 wheels on my 97 Targa if/when funds allow) and there seem to be quite a few US owners on the Rennlist forum who have fitted them, all without issue.

The Targa I'm looking at already has 18" wheels (the widths I need to check). I did think the ride was much harder than a 993 C2S I went out last week though I don't know whether the Targa has factory or upgraded springs/shocks (doubt it though)

The Targa should have a softer ride than any other 993 Coupe, certainly softer than an S.

18s will make it more crashy, but better suspension e.g. Billie HDs in itself shouldn't make the ride a lot worse, just more composed.
