I'm going to be replacing all 5 tyres on my car with standard 185/70 14 size in the not too distant future and want to know what makes drivers out there already have and what performance they give and make a list.

I'm also going to call the two contacts in Porschefile to see what brands they can offer for the 2.0

I have some Fuldas on my 924 turbo 195/? x 15 they are great in the wet. Shock horror, 26 year old sports car out handles modern Fiesta 1.6 zetec in the wet. Have them nitrogen filled. the molecules of nitrogen are larger that the voids in the porous rubber carcas and cannot excape. My tyre pressures are within an ace of the fitting pressure after a year. Scrub them in witth gentle driving first as it will not handle quite so well to start with.

I use Vredestein Sportrac on both 924S and 944
Tyre of the year by Auto Express several years running , though I think Noise levels meant they were second last year.
Inexpensive, very, very good dry and wet.

take me a lot to move from them.

I am happily using Vredestein Snowtracs on my 924 (in 185/70 14 size) following a recommendation from someone on here. Having said that the 14s are only fitted during the winter because I have a set of 15s with Toyos on for the summer.

The car had Hankooks or something of that ilk when I got the car - they were shocking in the wet and the back end stepped out a couple of times on some fairly slow corners in town!

I have Just ordered a pair of Fulda Progresso (195 65 15)for the rear... on this recommendation! ....only £100 the pair.. fitted!...Just hope they compliment the Goodyear Eagle upfront!
The current P6000 are sliding over in the wet!

Apparently the Italians have no concept of the fact that it rains. As far back as the Pirelli Cinturato their wet weather grip was so poor that my friend's MGA would understeer right accross the road at even moderate speed in the wet. Mind you it didn't understeer as badly as an MGB. I once bought a car with P600s on it and was not impressed. If IRC they were a bit variable in formula one as well. Probably brilliant in the dry.

AlexG, it was me that had the Vredestein Snowtracs, superb, totally transformed the car - which I still miss as evidenced by me dragging Mrs W around the 924's (esp CGT's) at Silverstone [;)]
