19 Inch Alloys

Considering moving up to 19 inch alloys on my 996 turbo, however there seems to be a great difference of opinion on this subject.

With some saying the car is not designed for 19's and they will put too much load on the suspension, make the car too uncomfortable etc. I talked with OPC and their opinion was that while not recommended by Porsche the only thing they could foresee giving trouble was perhaps the wheel bearings.

I can't really find any 18 inch alloys I like, I like the look of BBS CH-R alloys, so if anyone knows of something similar in 18 inch that may just solve my problem.

I would be very interested in opinions, especially from turbo owners with 19's fitted, but all welcome to contribute.

Essentially you need to keep your rolling radius the same (usually rule of thumb is up a wheel size, down a profile size) and your tread widths inside the wheel arch - don't go too wide as that will stress the wheel bearings and end up looking like the Dunlop Groundhog (if you're old enough to remember such things!).

Best.

I have 19s on mine. At first it took a bit of trial and error to get the correct spacers for the front, but since then no problems, the ride is fine and they look great!
