Here's one for the Large Hoop lovers !
Fronts wheels from a Cayman / Boxster are a 8.5x19 and fit quite well on a narrow bodied 944! but the tyre size would have to be a
rubber band slim 235/35/19 !
This will cause so many handling issues, I'd have to change all the spring rates (Go Softer) and maybe change the piston rods for more travel.
Just like the current F1 cars they are planning to move up to bigger diameter rims (from 13") to 18" Rim this causes issues with the additional weight, drag and slimmer profile tyres
The designers are having some difficulties with less heat transfer (for the brakes) and the smaller side profile does not have the absorption properties and / or takes up a lot of the suspension movements & calculations (additional Spring rates and travel)...
The trade off even for Racing applications to go bigger can not often be advantageous but for the road also, you can imagine how fidgety and crashy the ride would be not to mention the slower
acceleration etc..
