thinking about getting a set of these for my 986 S seen a set with 305's with 5mm tread seems a shame to change out for 295's if they can be used (plus cost of 2 new tyres) I know I will need spacers does anybody
know what size of spacers I will need for running 295's and if I could run 305's with spacers or will they stick out to much

cheers muchly

You'll need to find out the offsets of the wheels, then you can use a calculator such as this ----> http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator to work out if they will fit (don't forget the tyres may stick out a few more mm each side - dependent on width.

I'm unfamiliar with "Lobsterclaw" wheels - have you got any pictures?

Considering the widest rears fitted to a 986 from Porsche was 265, I suspect you're going to need substantial spacers to accommodate 305s and you're likely to put the tyre out beyond the wing - which is a potential MoT failure. You might also suffer from very uneven tyre wear unless you have your geometry settings changed.

I fitted 295s on my 987, 305s would have been too wide without some bodywork modifications.

I wouldn't be sure that 295s would work on a 986 without some very careful measuring.

On my 987 there is just 2mm between the shock and the wheel rim (The tyre has more clearance as the strut isn't vertical ie the further up the strut you go the more clearance you get) - No spacers were required.

The outside edge of the tyre is level with the wheel arch and passes the MOT. Never had any rubbing issues either.

Offsets for my bespoke 987 Boxster S wheels are:

Front: 19 x 9 ET 53
Rear: 19 x 11 ET 40

Tyres are:

Front: 235 x 35 x 19 PZero Corsa Direzionale
Rear: 295 x 30 x 19 Pzero Corsa Asimmetrico

295 would ruin the car, tyres weigh a lot

ALso you wont be insured in the UK if you have a write off and get inspected.

My rears weigh less that the standard lobsters 19s with their 265s ...... But then they are carbon fibre rims. [:)]

As for insurance you could be in trouble unless you declare the modification to your insurer ... as you would for any other modification.

ye that's the ones andy, ye I thought they would be a bit of a pain in the a£$% might look for a set of 18's. thanks for the replys tho

They do them in 9.5 x 19 ET46 and 8 x 19 ET57 for the 987 cars. If your rears are 11" then they are for 911 cars
