19" Tyres

Anyone else having trouble sourcing 19's of any brand.

Have tried three or four Opc's with no luck as well as the usual tyre places. (National, ATS, Kfit etc)

Also contacted online suppliers such as black circles.

Has anyone purchased 265/35/19's anywhere in the country recently???

Regards,

Emailed Conitental just to see if they had a timescale for the tyres

to come back into circulation.

Bit of a worrying respose;

Mr D,

Thank you for your enquiry with regards to availability of 265/35R19 SPC3
N1. Unfortunately Continental will not produce this tyre size for Porsche
anymore, and it is with reluctance when i say you should seek to purchase
tyres from another premium manufacturer whose tyres are approved for your
vehicle.

Should you have any other queries please feel free to contact me

Regards

Peter

Try Mytyres 0800 3286532 or Micheldever / Bracknell tyres (biggest tyre agent in uk)

Failing that, switch to Michelin - better tyres all round

mytyres list the Continentals as runout (confirmed in your email from continental themselves), but available. Albeit they are now more expensive than Michelin at £267 each (versus £255 for Mich), whereas they are normally 15% cheaper ! I'd say the price of the michelins has risen 10% in the last few months - i paid £225 fitted for one about 8 months ago, and that was still pretty much the price on mytyres before Xmas.

Sounds like mytyres or Micheldever are your best bet for sourcing, the latter no doubt at a more realistic price !

Thanks for the reply,

Have tried calling mytyres..phone line seems dead?

When I search for Michedever it is coming up as Protyre? Is that correct...

Cheers,

One and the same these days.

Mitcheldever used to be a business partner to Protyre and a few other tyre shops. The whole lot was bought out by a syndicate a year or so ago.

It took weeks to get some Michelin 17" rears for my 2.7 before Christmas. Its worth getting some for stock if your car is within 2000 miles or so from needing some new tyres IMO, and don't let the garage keep your old ones either. If the tread is just about legal having one in the garage at home may just get you out of a problem if you have an un-repairable puncture.

FYI

Dear Mr D,

We have allocated your message the reference number indicated within the title. If you need to contact us again regarding your message, we would be grateful if you could include the reference number.

I am sorry for the delay in responding & for your inconvenience.

The quoted Michelin product presently has poor stock level:

265/35 ZR 19 (94Y) "˜New Pilot Sport (PS2)' N1 (Michelin stock code: 602811)

Existing orders are forecast to be fulfilled during 18-22nd Febr '08, with unallocated stock thereafter.

Should the above dates prove impractical, you may wish to enquire via the chosen tyre distributor, asking them to speak with their local Michelin Account Manager, who will assist in locating stock in your area &/or obtaining a better forecast in relation to the date that the order was actually placed with that distributor.

Should this fail, I suggest contacting Porsche with regard to their stock or suggestions.

Thank you for your interest in Michelin.

Yours sincerely
Michelin Tyre Public Limited Company
