Hello to all, here is a piccy of my early 911, this is exactly as I bought her. Apparantly she was converted in the early 80's. I don't now much about here except she was built in early 66 and registered in early 67, she is original UK RHD and used to be blue. She also has her original engine. Does anyone know anything about her ?

Welcome to the world of short wheel base ownership [:)] They're a hoot to own and drive.

What are your plans for the old girl? Are you having any thoughts about returning her to original spec? If the RS wings and spoilers are *genuine* (which is quite possible given the time when the conversion was done) then they could be worth a bob or two.

If you're interested in what 'Aga Blue' looks like - below is my '66S in the same colour. Do let us know the chassis and engine numbers - and above all - enjoy [:D]

Hi Nick,

I already had that info, I was just curious as to who else knows what about the car.

The chassis number is 303828 engine number is 907251

I've just fitted a new stainless exhaust system, new oil pipes etc:, and that's about it. I haven't even driven it yet ! Some monkey had fitted an alarm that been playing havock with the electrics, so I've cut that out and now have to re-build the loom.

Apart from that I don't have any plans to return her to standard spec, I quite like it for what it is. I think the RS bits came from Autofarm, I have some receipts from them for the ducktail etc:

Out of interest, how much did Stephen sell or want for her ?

I also have a 1990 964 which is not running right and dropping more oil than I'm happy with, the SWB does not drop any !

Cheers
Peter

Peter,

Bernard restores and maintains a number of early 911's - it's probably worth getting in contact with him if you need any work done.

So the wheelbase was lengthened in1969?
I think I read once the LWB are 6.3cm longer? Is this correct and if so does anyone know where the added length was? I.e. in the middle, longer doors or was it in the front or rear?
I've always wanted to know but never asked....

Hi the extra 60mm is at the rear you can tell by the circular cover that covers the torsion bar access you can see the diffrents in the distance from the cover to the edge of the wheelarch this started in the 69 year program hope this helps. I came back from the factory yesterday and they have a (long wheel base) they are restoring, it is a prototype that was 120 mm longer made as a full four seater the extra lenth makes it look quite strange this is one of only two made and will be finished in blood orange and go in the new museam in 2007/8 Regards Berny.

Having thought about this a bit more I seem to remember that the 4-door 4-seater 911 I posted above was not built by Porsche but Trautman & Barnes (?).

This was the Porsche-built 4-seater (with 2 doors):
