[FONT=arial"]Can anyone tell me how many came to the UK in 66? My car was manufactured in 65 before officially coming here in 66. Any idea how many might be left. The car needs quite a bit of work doing to it tho....
Incidentally im new to the forum(like a big sweet shop!) so forgive me if I need to work on my etiquette a little...

Hi there and welcome . . . . that's going to be rare then.

Don't have the specific number you're after mind you. Someone like Philip Taysom, or Nick Moss (if they're looking in might - or Mark Warring at World Wide Classic - but that's another story).

Picture and updates always welcome.

Phil

Hi Phil and thanks for your response. I have to confess i'm a computer idiot and its going to take time to suss out how to upload pics! I've been a member on DDK for a month or so now and still havnt put pics on yet of cars.
I'm just really enjoying getting into the forums having had porsches for 5 years now and only just discovering that forums existed!
Re the swb 911, I had Andy at gmundcars do a search for me at Reading and it came back as original rhd, matching numbers, but as I said it needs a full resto... sounds like it might be worth saving though (rather than doing a rally replica for example). I bought the car from a chap I met at Beaulieu in September. Not much history with it alas, but dtails might turn up over time. If anyone knows the production figures I could pm the chassis/reg no.s over.
I dont know many forum members (yet) but its a great site and i,m looking forward to getting involved on the 993rs section aswell.

Thanks for your reply again

Rob

Mark Waring would probably know, but I don't think he uses this forum [:D] I have a contact at Porsche who will know, I will try him after Christmas. In the old days Porsche Reading would give you the information on the CoA, but they don't bother any more.

Thanks for that Nick. If you need me to PM the chassis no. and reg no. let me know. All I have to do now is save some pennies to restore it.... It will need the usual floors, sills, bowls etc. deffo needs a new front bottom panel. Its even got a 60's webasto sliding sunroof(argh) fitted...so new roof skin! I wonder who fitted that..... Still need to find the original colour which may or not be its present red... oh and someone painted the chrome black

From the info I have that was collated by Richard Cole and Mark Waring in 1999 their figures show the following RHD 911 cars that were brought into UK in the following years the number in the brackets are those that were registered with the club at that time:- 1965 - 41 (13), 1966 - 13 (3), 1967 - 72 (18) , 1968 - 147 (26), 1969 - 155 (33), 1970 - 195 (29), 1971 - 205 (22), 1972 - 321 (85), 1973 - 551 (138). Within the records are the engine and chassis numbers as well as the date of sale and the selling garage or dealer and the original colours of the exterior and interior. They are all hard copy records of the cars which will eventually be kept in the clubs archive at Cornbury House.
Some of the records are interesting in that some owners in UK took posession of USA specification cars which may have been LHD cars? I hope this gives some help to you Rob, if you want more e-mail me on register@porscheclubgb.com. Happy Christmas to all.

If you contact Porsche GB at Reading they will contact the factory to get the original build details for the car from your chassis number. This includes correct engine number, original colour, original interior, any options ordered and who was the supplying dealer in the UK. They do charge for this (currently about £60 I believe) and will require a copy of your V5 to prove you are the owner. Takes anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks to get the details.

You can also contact the DVLA to get details of all previous owners of the car.

Ian.
