Elliot don't let the pistons go too cheap. Last known new price when they were available was £410 each per naked piston. Main bearings std dims were £22 per half shell and £28 per half for the thrust bearings. I know they are not new parts but are as rare a hen with teeth wading through rocking horse poop with an unobtanium detector. I am making a call that because of the year it is a car without the DCIT igniton system and crank pulse detector. If by some strange chance it is an early DICT (cant remember when they changed over) then Ricky Caesar of the 924 carrera gt register would love to hear from you if you have a working crank sensor.

Standard 86.5mm aren't worth a great deal unless the block they are going into is still within tolerance. Unlikely on a 100k+ mileage block. However 86.95mm or larger is a different storey if you want a stock rebuild. New forged pistons can be had for circa £600 so that's your upper limit.

S1 turbos don't have DITC.

Well things have changed. and of course the price I quoted was OPC, and its great news for 924t owners that things like piston are available relatively cheaply. Are these pistons Mahle of Kolbenschmidt?
I wasn't sure if it was a series one but I thought it would be as I knew the Series one didn't have dict but it is always worth an ask. There are apparently 3 carerra GTs off the road due to failure of the crank pulse sensor

A few guys on 924ownersclub are trying break down what the crank sensor pushes out to the DITC so a solution can be found. So far no good news.

As for pistons I bought some Omega forged pistons. They will make more on a 3 set minimum order so will need to be a group buy. Alternatively you can go to JE Pistons in the US.

The dificulty with the pulse sensor is finding a magnetisable substrate around which to wind the trigger coil and screening coil. I have been searching high and low for a suitably sized peice of ferrite. Get one of them to pm me and maybe we can work together. I have a factory workshop manual suplement for the 924T and it shows the theoretical electrical circuit for the cps and as far as I can see there are only four combiinations of winding the coils. Having spent many grubby hours grinding away at a dead sensor I have wire dia, and indeed spools of wire of the very close to but not exact wire gauge of the original item. I also have ideas on an encapsulation material. Are they as far advanced as this? I am about to calculate the number of turns to give the correct resistance.

John

thanks for the info - Ricky has already had the pulse sensors off me last year and the front end - believe they went to germany

Pistons (both sets) are Mahle

cheers Elliot
