1980 'Le Mans' Stripes

Can anyone point me in the right direction: Where can I get some 'Le Mans' stripes for my 1980 Le Mans. I have tried Porsche but they do not have any. I have a small crease in the front o/s wing which I want to get repaired, but the stripes will have to come off. So I need replacements.

Thanks

Mark

Hello Mark,

I brought a spare pair of front wings for my 1983 Porsche Le Mans which I am currently restoring. These one came of a 1980 Le Mans. I really dont need them as I found out that the script- 'Le Mans' is different from a 1983 model.

So pretty soon I'll be looking for a pair of front wing from a 1983 model.

Make me an offer.

Hi, I own a 1980 Le Mans as well, and I have always asked myself the question of where I could get replacement stripes.

The Dealers have long since sold off this stock, so the only option now is to get them made up by a graphics specialist.

This is likely to be expensive as a one off, and you would also need the original graphics. It would be great if Porsche would release the original graphics to a suitable company and then we would all know where to buy them.

However with so few of these cars left on the road, its unlikely anyone would do this.

Unless anyone else knows better.

Gents, give the guys at http://www.928porsche.net a shout. I'm not sure if the work is complete since I don't see them listed on their website, but I do know that they have all the original LeMans Ed. decals to use as templates and can easily reproduce them for you. Their work is absolutely top notch and service is excellent.

Hi NEMESIS

I contacted these guys some time ago about the Le Mans decals, and they said that they would be prepared to re-create them. They didn't (at the time) seem to know what I was actually looking for, but suggested I send them pictures, etc. I didn't follow it up in the end.

I see from their website that they don't have the Le Mans decals on there yet. It was interesting to read that they have a set to copy.

If the prices weren't too mad, then I would consider a set.

Are they waiting for some interest before starting the project ?

Tim,

Since you talked with them last they have been given a complete set of NOS original LeMans decals so the hard part is done. I will get a hold of my mate there and see what the story is on reproduction efforts.

Hi Nemesis

That would be good.

I see that the company are in the Virgin Islands (nice), is it the British bit, or the American bit ?

Fired off an email, just waiting to hear back.

They are actually located in Malta (nicer still) from what I understand.

Got word back about the decals. He said they can do them no problem but until the first order is placed they won't have a sample to show. Said he's had a couple of inquiries but no actual orders for them. Too much of an undertaking just to take on without an actual order. Good news is they are available and all you have to do is order them.

Sorry we did not talk price but I would expect the Lemans set to be comparable to the Championship Edition decals in that regard.

I guess I will need to contact them myself in that regard

Anyone else interested in a set of these ?

I would be interested in set for the whole car. [:D]

As mine are begining to fade a little after twenty four years on the road.

I promise you this guys, you will not be disappointed in the quality of workmanship. Here's a taste of their work. Money well spent if you ask me. Cheers!
