Goodwins Bodyshop here.
Recently purchased a 1984 911 Carrera - bought as a genuine 930 super sport.
However, just had conformation that is a replica with all genuine super sport parts on.
Going to continue to restore it,

Any feedback or advice?

I thought after 86 they were just called super sports

This. The Turbo look was available from 84 but the Supersport name came here from 87. Before that they were super sport equipment.

As for advice to the OP just enjoy and refurb as required. Loads of cars were given the turbo look after they left the factory.

Usual way to spot a fake is to check for rear wheel spacers. Real ones have Turbo swing arms that provide wider track without spacers.

Wise words from the R26 sage, but why has nobody suggested looking for the 491 'Turbo Look' option code? Sticker under the front lid or the duplicate in the habdbook. If neither in place, then get the owner to join PCGB (if not already a member) and apply for a free certificate of authenticity!

I'm fairly sure that the major suspension upgrades arrived more or less with the G50 box ,86/87 ish
When the Turbo also had the the trailing arms uprated being 50 mm wider the torsion bars were also
increased in diameter at that time .I think all this coincided with the return of the turbo to the US market
As with all things Porsche especially older ones things are always changing .
4 pot ventilated brakes can be a good first clue as to a genuine TL SSE or supersport depending on how you
want to call it .even the 491 option code does not always appear on stickers and paper work .
These things were also built with out spoilers front and back .
As was previously said Refurb and enjoy .

M491 wasn't always recorded in the option codes on the sticker or log book

Only way to check is to contact Porsche.

On a quick inspection supersport rear brake calipers are mounted on the rear not to the front.

turbos also have spacers

Not big fat ones they didn't. I'ts been a few years since my genuine supersport ownership but don't remember having spacers. So checked PET and sure enough there is a spacer on 930 (no dimension given but looks about 25mm). How those memories fade!

Lots more info can be found by looking at - good bed time reading for those who are instrested.

Lawrence wasn't questioning whether or not his is genuine, he say it is confirmed as not. The genuine ones did have rear spacers just not big ones, but they didn't have front spacers.

Actually I am not sure what he was asking, still going to be a fun car to drive and look the dangles, that's all that matters.

Genuine SSE & Turbos have a 28mm spacer on the rears, nothing up front, if its just been turbo bodied you would need 25mm front and 55mm rear unless you swap all the suspension over, which I have seen done before!

WHATS THE VIN?

Checked with Porsche and they confirmed it did not leave the factory how it is now. Has not got m491 code.

Has all super sport - Wheels, suspension, breaks, from and back spoilers and front arches.
Would someone have gone to that extremes to change the breaks on a replica?

If my car has all the genuine super sport parts on will this effect the value ?

Has anyone else had this?

dont write it off just jet.[8|]

Mines not got the M491 option on the sticker, also see post 12 above - However prior to purchase I wrote to Porsche reading as a member of PCGB to get a COA. This service is FOC to memebrs of the club.

Guess what - mine as I knew it was is a supersport SSE, Turbo Body, what every you want to call it[;)] I have the Framed COA[:)]
