Hi iv just bought a 928 1985 4.7 auto. The car had been in a garage for 10 years before it sat for all that time the engine
had just been reconditioned and was running fine but then one day it would not start, and it had been sitting like that ever since.
I had found that the fuse had blown for the fuel pump and that the fuel pump was seized so I fixed that and now the car is getting
fuel. But while I was diagnosing this fault I used starter fluid to see if the car would run and it did then just cut out, then
I tried starting again with starter fluid and it jus made a loud bang and smoke came out the air box. So I checked the air filter and
part of it has been blown up. So now that the car is getting fuel with the new pump it will not start and will not start with fluid.
just hope there is no damage to the engine but my gut is telling me that there is now, ill need to do a compression test now.
Has anyone ever damaged a 928 with to much starter fluid?
