(the top-most screw goes in straight up rather than in at the angle of the hole, use a torch to see it before trying to undo it)
Many thanks for your reply, i will be looking at removing the pillar covers first prior to trying to remove the glass itself. I have been looking at various people on line trying to remove one however, nothing inspires me yet as not seen anyone successfully removed one without either smashing the screen out of desperation or cracking the screen at the corners... so i will be doing a lot of research!!
Many thanks

Ewan said:I had a new screen fitted to my Rangie yesterday, by Autoglass, all covered by my insurance (less the £100 excess). I took the car to their specialist centre, as opposed to them sending one man and a van to me. This minimises the chances of any mistakes. An excellent job was done.
I have to agree ^^^^^
i like to do absolutely everyrhing myself but even I would rather pay the money and get the proffesionals to do what there good at! And if they damage it they have to replace regardless!
whay are you wanting to remove it yourself.
I can inderstand every other pane pane of glass on the car but I wouldn’t contemplate the front as I know it will crack or shatter before I’m finished espeacially if I don’t know how.

My car is at the stage of complete overhaul, so i will be asking Autoglass to come along and remove the windscreen. The reason iam taking it out is because the pillars have suffered rust over the years enough to push the screen out slightly in both top corners resulting in water ingress to the inside of the car.
Much appreciated

Always better to pay an agreed price and know the outcome will be the same and what you want and not a horrible and expensive surprise.
I had to save for 3 years to afford the total rebuild on the turbo engine and paid serdi a eye watering amount on top of custom rods/ pistons ect .....but I know that when I finally get her ready for her break in for the summer it’s all done with the best possible experience and parts as they mulled out my bores and fitted racing wet liners that were custom made for me. I could have saved thousands and bought a second hand turbo short block which I did find after months of searching but the end result coukd be another disappointment so I bit the bullet and did it the right way, and am looking forward in reaping the rewards of my long hard work and patience ??
best if luck with it mate and get another one back looking good on the road!..... or just in the road ??
all the best
daniel
Thank you Ewen,
I have made the decision the call in Autoglass after much good feedback from this forum, so many thanks for confirming my feelings and everyone else who have given me helpful advice. I will no doubt be asking quit a few more questions as i progress with the project of rebuilding my 944, which incidentally is my first porsche...
Regards
Rob
