It's the usual story really. The car is worth next to nothing whole as everyone else needs to trailer/tow dismantle / get rid of shell just as you would but if you want to sell it bit by bit its worth a tidy sum in parts. The plate isnt even worth the transfer fee by the way it has no more value than any other plate contrary to what any
' sell your plate through us website will tell you ' [;)]

No you can't, that plate would only be useable if the car was MOT'd TAX'd and Insured otherwise its worthless.

Being an S makes it a little more desirable and other may say otherwise but in the current climate you'll be lucky to get £700 in its current state, where is the car at present?

Does it start? If it does and its mechanically sound it could be surprising what a new windscreen and really good clean might give you.

No, but it makes it a relatively early S. One of my very first cars was a 1987 model year 944 on a D, although that was a 1987 built and registered car. This example could have been built in 1986, for the 1987 model year too.

lol Mike, But as Edd says unless there is something you aren't telling us then putting it back on the road can't be a major problem from what you say.

Unless the bodywork is really failing can't be a huge amount that needs to be done apart from the obvious like belts, brakes fluids etc.... pitched correctly with no major rot it could still make close to £1k

As it's been off the road for ten years, it'll need tyres, oil seals, all hoses and belts at the very least. There could well be plenty of rot underneath, and has it had anti-freeze in? Just a windscreen will cost more than the car's worth, it could cost a small fortune to get everything done. [8|]

I agree but the poster is not wanting to drive across France in it. I would at least want to know if the engine starts, maybe fit a charged battery and add some fresh fuel. A clean wreck might sell better than a dirty one.

Edd

Agree that a NEW screen might cost stupid amounts, but I'd be very suprised if Alasdair or Elliot did have one for a sensible price, 3-6 months work by a home mechanic and unless there is something thats not being said I don't see why it couldn't be back on the road.
They don't all have to be concours, and considering the state mine was in when I bought it sounds like most people would have scrapped it, yet is just coming unto 16k for the year and still going strong.

Car is very solid and is also a non sunroof car so rather rare I would say. Screen is well trashed, inner sill on the pass side is rather rotten but outer and back corners of the arches are very good. Front wings are also perfect as well. The guy who was selling it had partially stripped a few parts out. Interior is lovely with not much fading and very good seats. I am picking the car up later this week so may try and see if it will go. Possibly worth saving but if not, I am sure the shell will be desirable for a track car. Headcloth is mint on it as well.
Alasdair

Good effort! Will be good to get another 944 put to some sort of use in the 944 "food chain" rather than just sitting around.

sold it to Alasdair
wont say how much thats for him if he wants to
hopefully it help keep a few others on the go for a few more years
or if he has the time and patience would love to see her back on the road
Keep me updated and with pics as well
it really is a projectt if you go for the latter option

Car is for he chop so all parts available. Has a very nice pin stripe black interior. No wear on bolsters nd drivers seat is 2 position electric. Will see if engine will turn over tomorrow if I get the chance. All running gear seems reasonable.
