Well Paul, the 944 turbo simply does not make it for me, may it be equipped with the original Cup chips or even the brilliant Guru Racing kit which makes it go even faster. I cannot seem to find any pleasure in that looooooooong throttle response ...
I am currently hooked on the 928 S4, this delivers BIG TORQUE a way I like very much.

Oh well, I like them all. Maybe I would need to test drive a 951 on a long run to really figure out what it' s all about.

As far as my next Porsche is concerned, opportunity will make the thief ... [;)]

I know what you mean about instant throttle response. When I changed to my Turbo after 4 years with the S2 it was a big difference, but I soon realised that they need to be driven differently to extract the most. The Turbo has higher gearing and needs to be in a lower gear most of the time. Also none of this namby pamby gentle squeezing of the throttle, it needs to be slammed quickly into the carpet if decent acceleration is required. This wakes up the Turbocharger much quicker.

A final testament to the difference that the GURU kit has made to my car is that my wife now loves driving it. She has long been a Turbo hater, much preferring the crispness of her S2. Just today she commented that the Turbo now feels like her cherished S2 but with much, much more oomph under her right foot [][]

I plan to replace the wastegate witha dual port design at some point. This should reduce any Turbo lag even more [8D] I' ll probably never get it out of her hands then [:(]

I had the same feeling when I drove the Guru-equipped Turbo of my friend (remember my post on PH ? [;)]) but even if the torque comes much earlier there is still that long throttle response before anything happens.
I would be very interested to know if you manage to " cure" that.

I will just wait and see if good deals come up, be it a 928 or a 951, or even maybe a 968 CS.
