Does anyone on here have knowledge "" good or bad "" about this 1988 Anniversary model IB Coupe, please?

Light blue, c114,000 miles at the moment and has number plate A911 NJN "" last owner believed to live in the Colchester area. Has had several cherished numbers over the years, this is the current one.

There's a PCGB sticker on the windscreen but it doesn't necessarily relate to the last owner.

Any information gratefully received; discretion assured!!

Thanks.

I dont have any specific knowledge of this car - but i have the cab version (see sig).
Over time I have collected lots of interetsing stuff connected to the car.
They are well spec'd cars featuring the CS short shift, and all the usual sport options, all the same in colour & had 'unique' interior.
A PPI is your best bet if you are intetested in buying the car and dont have any history, my car too had several personalised numer changes (3 within the same family!) - which is always a little confusing when checking the back history.
For buying purposes all you need is to ensure that the car is good a good one.
Only 50 of these were ever sold in the Uk 30 coupe 10 Targa & 10 Cab's.
Good luck with the purchase!

Thanks Adam.

Certainly going with an independent PPI this time as I didn't with the targa I have now, and should have done.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Regards.

If its the car Ive just seen on PH then it looks very well cared for and has all the history and invoices with it.
Hope it works out!!!

Hi Adam, I saw it on Autotrader but I notice it's on PH as you say, in Cuffley.

It looks presentable but I didn't notice the numbered plaque on the dash. Still trying to get that info from the dealer but he did send me the VIN details. He says it's not a car he would normally deal in (too old) but got it through a mate in the trade who vouches for it as being' a good 'un'. But he's a dealer, I have to keep reminding myself. The seats have something stitched in them that he says reads 'Anniversary' but I thought it should be more to do with Porsche himself - i.e., his signature. Perhaps you can advise me on that.

Charles Marsland has no record of it with this reg. no. but I've sent him the VIN as well in case he can search on that.

Car's not yet ready for sale. Yesterday the clutch pedal was on the floor and today he tells me - as I suspected and suggested - the slave cylinder has had to be replaced. Wheels need sorting and the seller says that it still needs full valeting. The engine bay is grim - on my car it is very good - but nothing that wouldn't clean up. Perhaps that will come with the valeting.

I'm not sure if I will progress the inquiry. I have a SuperSport Targa but cannot get on with the noisy roof and should have bought a Coupe. Trouble is, there aren't that many for sale where I can trade mine, and I hate selling privately. That said, the buyer of the Anniversary car will not get any form of warranty - it's too old - so will need to get it checked thoroughly.

Thanks for your interest; it's indeed good to be able to talk to someone with this model.

Regards.

Hi Les.

As you say the car has had a number of plate changes and as a result may be on a database somewhere under a diff ref.
I wouldnt worry too much about that, if the history and service is there and the PPi is ok thats all you need, just treat it as any other 'period' 911.
The stitching on the front headrestraints is the Ferry Porsche signature (as a result the car is refered to in some books/websites as the Ferry Porsche.)
Engeine bay is easy to clean - just time and patience, the clutch pedal may be the master cylender rather than the slave.
(master cylender sits in the pedal box).
Good luck with the PPi
