1988 large door speakers

The paper cones on mine were completely shot when I got it, so I replaced the speakers with some Alpine units. I used the original grilles, so you would never know the difference. They were a standard size speaker - can't remember the size- but a direct fit, and a doddle to do.
The original door speakers are almost certainly 130mm Blaupunkts; they don't make a direct replacement but, as others have said, plenty of aftermarket speakers can be made to fit under the original covers often with an improvement in sound quality.
However, if you wish to keep the original speakers, I can recommend:

for diy cone and/or surround replacements. I used one of their kits to replace the foam surround on my 3.2 CS door speakers - easy to do and good results. My CS is quite noisy and I went for authenticity rather than quality as I probably wouldn't be able to hear the difference....!
