1989 3.2 Cabriolet - Hood Query

Can anyone offer some advice please? Having previously recovered the weather seals (which the side windows rest against) in situ on my cab, the time has come to do the job properly and remove them first. Whilst I have taken off the vertical seal which the rear edge of the window rests against without problem, the horizontal seal along the top edge of the window is proving difficult. I have removed the rubber cover strip which hides the small cross headed mounting screws and taken the screws out of the aluminium backing strip, but the seal wont budge. There seems to be a layer of black mastic between the aluminium strip and the hood frame, but before I try to insert a thin lever between the two and prise them apart, I wonder if there are any other unseen fastenings that could be hoding the two together. At some £70 each I'm keen not to damage the seal.
Has anyone taken these seals off before and discovered further fastenings or have any suggestions on the best way to separate them from the hood frame, please ?
All comments/ideas will be most welcome.
Thanks
Bruce
