Calling all 944 enthusiasts knowledgeable on 944 wiring,

I am trying to retrofit an apparently original Blaupunkt sqr48 (came with the car) back into my car after a previous owner upgraded to something else in the early 2000s. It appears that I do not have any switched live +12V coming down the loom from the ignition side (Yellow wire from loom to unit). The permanent feed (+12V) is fine as is ground etc. Any clues gratefully received. All other electrics in the car working fine (as far as I know !). The only other clue is that the voltmeter has never worked in my 4 year ownership. All other ignition and dash lights seem fine.

Thoughts ? and many thanks in advance.

Mark

Check the Stereo FAQ at the top of the 944 forum. I found it to be 100% accurate when replacing the head unit in my 91 S2 imported from Japan. The importer spliced in a SONY head connector to the existing harness which already contained connectors for a Blaupunkt 4 speaker system and a 10 speaker system (actually the head unit and mixer unit the 10 speaker system uses - I didn't notice extra speaker wiring in the doors, etc. for 10 speakers vs 4). Using this guide you should be able to back track to the original wiring that the PO altered.
Given that I found original wiring for both audio setups in my 91 - I believe that the main wiring harnesses, etc. were "standard" by the "last gen" time and I would expect you to find the same - unless the PO actually cut out some wiring which would surprise me...then again - I don't know why "professionals" don't make an adapter cable to go from the original plug to whatever you want to put in there - everything you could want is quite handy...
