1992 cabrio for sale due to impending arrival of No2 child

July 1992 Porsche 944 S2 cabriolet in Guards red[/b]

I have owned this car for just 22 months having bought it as a 30th birthday present to myself. My wife is pregnant with our second child and it isn't possible for me to put 2 child seats in the Porsche so she (the Porsche not the wife) has to go. I have only done about 5k miles in the car in the 2 years I have owned it as it has always been a second car for sunny days and weekend drives.

HPI information[/b]

Experian HPI check carried out June 2007

Not recorded as stolen
Not at high risk of fraud or theft
No finance outstanding
No insurance writeoff details found[/LIST]

I bought the car cash so there is no change to the above information

Mechanical[/b]

The car is high mileage having covered 182,300 miles but drives a lot better than some of the sub 100k mile cars I tested when I bought mine. The only mechanical issue is the gear stick needs replacing (~£40) as it is causing a sloppy shift (I have changed the linkage at the rear so I know it is the stick that needs changing). It drives straight, brakes straight pulls cleanly in every gear and does not smoke. The car has only failed to start once in my ownership and that was a dud battery which I replaced.

Exterior[/b]

Bodywise there are better cars out there. There is a small dent low down in the rear quarter behind the rear wheel where the previous owner caught something as he drove out of the garage, there are also slight scratches on both front wings. I am being honest here, the car is not a wreck and really shines after a good wash but it is also not concourse. The condition is reflected in the price with this being possibly the cheapest 944 cabrio available, if you had the time to spend a couple of hundred pounds you would have a mint late 944 cabrio. I wanted it to drive not to look at, hence never got around to sorting the repairs. The car has a full electric hood which does not leak and raises and lowers as you would expect.

The car is currently sat on an original set of Porsche 996 17" wheels that I bought from a Porsche dealer. They are fitted with Pirelli P-zero tyres with 3-4mm tread on the front and brand new (5 weeks old) Hankook's on the rear. Also with the car is the original set of design 90 wheels the tyres on which have been better.

Interior[/b]
[/b]
The car has electric full leather sports seats which is an unusual and expensive option. These are close to mint and do not have collapsed bolsters or excessive wear to the sides. There is also factory fitted climate control which is in perfect working order. The car has an aftermarket clubsport steering wheel (original included) and a full set of Porsche logo'd mats. As with most 944's the backlight for the interior clock has gone but the clock still works. All other dash lights and gauges work with the only problem being the orange low fuel light is on constantly.

History[/b]

Listed below is a table showing the service details I can find and other work that has been carried out. There is a fair sized folder of history with this car. Points to note are the fact the fuel lines have been replaced (they ALL go eventually and it is a pig of a job to change them) and the rear gear linkage has been replaced, again a wear item and a pig to replace.
