1992 S2 cab for sale - £5000

Fairly new to this forum and fairly new to the Porsche marque in general but earlier this year I bought myself a 1992 S2 cab as 'one last fun car' before I need to settle down into life with kids.

Anyway the reason for this post is now I must be sensible and can no longer justify the cab as a second car as it is just not getting used (less than 1k miles since I bought it). Also I am under instruction from her in doors that the little one does not go in the cab (lap belts only etc.) so future use is looking very limited.

Therefore for sale is my 1992 944 S2 convertible

The car is red with black leather and is completely standard apart from a clubsport wheel and 996 dogleg 17" wheels. The car has electric hood, electric seats, ice cold air con and a fairly recent CD player fitted. Original steering wheel and 16" design 90's included in sale.

Facts and figures include
MOT until Feb 08
Tax until end Jan 08
179,800 miles
decent folder of receipts and plenty of service history stamps inc belts recently done
gearbox linkage replaced a couple of months ago (needs new gear lever, this will be supplied and hopefully fitted before sale to eliminate the last bit of play)
Dateless private plate included

There is a dent in the passenger side rear wheel arch behind the wheel where the previous owner caught a low wall. Quote for repair was £300, I haven't had time to sort it yet.

Any interested parties please email me for more info, full details and breakdown of service history and picture. kevinandhazel@ntlworld.com

Priced at £5000 for a quick sale.

You'll struggle in the winter I'm afraid. I haven't looked at cab prices in a while but for 180,000 miles you're pitching it at the high-end of the bracket.

If it's a good one then £5k is in the mid to low end for a Cabrio but it is the totally wrong time to sell. A £300 dent should be repaired before sale as it makes the car look unloved and therefore not strictly 'a good one'

Tax and MOT are also going south in the near future as well so that isn't going to endear it to potential purchasers.

Hard to value our cars now - good ones are worth a premium over the eBay crap as long as your prospective purchaser knows that. I shall be selling mine in the new year (I don't want to but I'm emigrating and can't take it with me [:(]).

Mine's a 1990 S2 (not cab), absolutely no rot or rust, every single item works as it should and is umarked. Lots of history and brand new tyres all round, 128k. I'll prolly pitch it at four and a half.

Nice car Kev however I would certainly repair the dent (something to knock you down on) put 12 months mot on her and sell in the new year as we all get more keen after January onwards[;)]

Florida. I'd would have taken the S2 with me if it had A/C. [:(]
Buy another one out there, with the steering wheel on the correct side ...

How did you get permission to work out there? Green cards are meant to be hard to get, aren't they?

My company's head office is in Florida and so it is easier to get a green-card through an internal transfer "highly-skilled migrant program" (!). My company will effectively be sponsoring me so they [immigration] know I will be no burden on the state from the word go. The initial visa is for three years and is renewable - however in previous experience in this company, if you have been paying your taxes and kept out of jail for three years, citizenship is a formailty after that time.

Crumbs! You jammy sod. Jammy, jammy, jammy sod.

In fact, 2 minutes after reading your post, I can't really come up with anything more than that. Especially concerning the citizenship bit in your last sentence.

Have another 'jammy sod' for good measure!

On a serious note, I hope it goes well for you.

Thanks Oli - appreciate it. It's not a 100% done-deal at the moment but all being well it will pan out for about May time. There's a lot to be done between now and then, sell both cars, sell or let the house, sell or ship contents etc., etc.

Nice part of the world though - on the Gulf of Mexico many miles from the horror of Orlando.

Ian,

I am genuinely jealous. I am thinking more and more about emigration, mainly because of the state of the UK (or what is left of it), and the US is an attractive place. Not top of my list, I'll add, but up there near the top, mainly because I have some good friends out there.

To have it all done for you (as in, green card, job, paperwork etc) would be a dream come true for me. If I was in your position, I would certainly be doing what you are.

Seriously, I hope it goes well. You'll be missed on this forum, for sure. (I understand that the 944 scene in the states is pretty big as well, so if you did buy another one out there you would be well catered for. Fen - also emigrating - always spoke highly of Lindsey Racing, who seem to be a be a bunch of stir-crazy hard core 944 nutters, and I am sure you can set up an account with them ... !)

Yes indeed. Sorry about the thread hijack, OP.....

I'd have to get something European, old or new. The American stuff doesn't do anything for me. Well, not much of it , anyway.

I have a very good friend who is in the motor trade up in Washington DC. He is a BIG european car enthusiast (owns a stable of VW's and Audis) and would be delighted to give you advice and assistance.

Mind, it is a bit of a way from Florida.
