1995 oil leak chain cover

Hi guys I have been busy with a new job and travelling so not been able to spend so much time on the forum recently.... hope you are all well and your cars are sweet.

A friend of mine has just had an PPI on a 1995 993 Cab in the U.S. Apart from cosmetics the mechanic has found a "slight oil leek on the left had chain cover". This my friend is told is quite normal.

Please can we have your input into the matter with any other things that could help him.

All the best

Will, Are you sure he isn't in Wales?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Trust the new job is going well.

Some to**er put a shopping trolley into my 993 today on the rear nearside panel. No scratch or damage to the paint but a small enough dent to annoy until I get a dent man to sort it out []

Regards

Bob

Wow, I've made 99 posts; only one more to get to 100.

I had both sides done for £200, I think. They all do it apparently. After 10 years/60,000 miles or so the rubber gaskets go brittle with the heat and start to leak oil. They're situated just above the exhaust, you'll notice. Due to the design, I would be surprised if any didn't fail but maybe someone will prove me wrong out there.

Thanks for all the posts chaps..... my friend has now bought the car and thanks you for the help too.
