1998 986 Boxster Paint Issue

Hi All,

I have just had a paint warranty claim rejected by Porsche and I am a bit miffed to say the least. To recap the paint has bubbled under the door striker catch/plate on the body and formed an ugly rust bubble under and around the catch. After speaking to the member sec (i think) it was pointed out that later cars have a plastic piece seperating the catch from the body. Just wondered where to go next?, trading standards? As clearly the 10 year Rust Warranty is pure fiction!

Any advice would be most appreciated. Failing that the name of a good paint shop in the Merseyside Area.

I thought they should fix it - they implicitly acknowledged there was an issue with this when they indroduced the plastic piece to protect the paint...[&:]

Porsche have changed the design of lots of components over time to fix problems. But never admit liability for the earlier design failings e.g. RMS, Intermediate shaft bearing to name but 2.
The corrosion warranty does not cover damage to paint finish however caused and subsequent rusting. Only covers corrosion perforation from the inside to out. Not very fair minded of Porsche but typical.[]

Mark,

I have an Idea I will display my car with the paint issue at one of the club shows ! [][>:][&:]
