Hello R20 members... anyone going to be at Brooklands on NEW YEAR'S DAY ? They usually have a Car Club gathering starting from 10am... I will be there... anyone else?

This is a TIPEC organised event.

I'm also a member of TIPEC but won't be renewing, after several disappointing events this year and their magazine I don't even both reading anymore it's that bad.

I initially registered an interest, but the organised emailed me today and apparently there are only 3 people going.
On top of that, they "forgot" to reserve the parking spaces, so it is just random luck if they can place the Porsches together if anyone does turn up. Typical TIPEC shambles, count me out.

Sorry to hear of that... I am going with the "Other German car Club - 3 Pointed Star"... I created the very first visit for them about 5 years ago and we started in a muddy car park in the museum grounds... It has grown year on year and we have a standing reservation for the tarmac section where the pits are located... we have had TIPEC share that space with us for two years and they dont seem to have many participants - at most 5 or 6 one year?

But for 1st Jan 2010, my other club has ALL that ground reserved as we expect to have 50-odd cars turning up !

PS : I suspect TIPEC had problems reserving CLUB SPACE as the Museum Trustees only wanted VINTAGE vehicles on-site and moderns scattered as they arrived... But they cant mess with the Mercedes Benz Club ! [;)]

I really admire your enthusiasm Kenny ..... the weather and delivery of my new steed and the possibility of not being able to drive after been out and possibly not to bed the night before might rule me out ...... keep the good work up mate[:)]

Thanks CarreraBoy - good luck with your new steed - hope to see you posting lots of piccies of it when you are ready...

Des which car have youi bought, not a GT3 I trust ?
By the way I went on the Spa website and was pleased to see that the local Porsche club weekend is confirmed for the 17/ 18 April. Got a lot of interest from the lads, will you be posting details re arrangements sometime soon ?

John

Hi John, from what I can see the dates are provisional still and the dates quoted are a good guess, unless you know something else. If you follow the Spa Thread I have posted a dummies guide ..... Simples really, but as first timer I am here to hold your hands .... [:D]

Thought it was pre-'73 cars on site only?

Oil be there if weather half decent........

That was the rule that Museum Trustees had imposed for 2010... but we got it over-turned in our favour !

Did any R20 member visited this ...? I saw Ken Coad's car, a red 993 in the public carpark, 2 912s, a 2.7 RS (I think)... but nothing else...

Great weather and a good turn out of some lovely machines....especially loved the ratty, rusty hot rod, an interesting boxster hard top/Cayman conversion and the RS near the main building. Had a great run from Windsor while the majority nursed hangovers. A two week GT3 sabatical, an empty Windsor relief road & a perfect crisp winters day, what better start to 2010 [:)]

Hi All

Mary and I were there with our 1956 356A, arrived at about 11.00 left about 3.30.

Great display and lots of chat. TIPEC did have a reserved space which we took advantage of[;)].

Hope all the enquiries re `joining PCGB` come to fruition.

Have fun

Paul Kelley

I must be getting old, how could I forget the 356?!?! Paul, have to say your car was very pretty indeed. Looked like a lot of time and effort had been lavished on it?
