1st new ideas

Ok, let's dive in head first and throw into the arena my two initial ideas for kick-starting the 944 register.

First, the PP is a total loss for arranging anything. No criticism of the magazine itself, although it may be a little heavy on advertising, but with copy dates months in advance and the 450 word limit it is just not going to work.

I would like to set up an e-mail group. Idea is that you can send me details of anything likely to be of interest, and I can then send it out to the whole register in time to be of some use. Appreciating that none of us want endless mails, I would suggest a monthly e-mail plus the odd one-off if there is a really good reason why you didn't let me know in time. Any idea how I can set up such an e-mail list? It would need to be an opt-in on the registration form, and I would put the details in the register area and PP column.

Secondly, I want to do a survey of the register. The idea would be to get beyond you guys on the forum - great as you all are, but there are 1400 cars registered and most are silent members! - and find out what people do/ don't like about the club, what they want to see organised and what they might bring to the club. The dog breed club I belong to recently carried out a phone survey of every member. I appreciate this will be impossible with the size of the register, but could we do a survey by e-mail, or a mail-shot from headquarters? I have a postal budget to use up....

What do you all think?

Hi Paul

Ok here goes, here is the way I have got any sort of list of email addresses for our region :

1. As soon as anyone emails you, put the address on your list.
2. Ask Jenni at Club Office for a list of all members who have a 944 (if like the list she sends me for our regional members, you should be able to pick up the addresses). Ask for it in Excel format as this appears to be the only form which will give you email addresses.
3. Put a note on the 944 register column in PP asking for members email addresses.
4. Put a note on the 944 Register section of the website here again asking for members email addresses.

It can be a long and tedious job particularly in 2. above, but this is the only way I have managed to get anything at all.

Hope this helps
Harriet

I think the e-mail list is an excellent idea - there is no way at the moment to be put in touch with other local 944 owners - the regional club meetings seem to be dominated by 911 owners

As a non-PCGB member it's none of my business, but...... why not take advantage of the excellent resource you are using at this very moment?

Email is great, but "discussions" can get confusing.

If you don't want to air ideas in such an "open" manner, ask mods to set up a suitable members only section.

Just a thought..... feel free to tell me to mind my own [:)]

So, you can be one of the first to join just to gain the benefits of the newly invigorated 944 register, with all the exciting things that will be happening!

The idea of an e-mail bulletin once a month is to get news, particularly of events, out faster than the huge delay that is inherant with a magazine - for instance, you'll all have to wait until April to see my photo...

I would certainly not have any problems with this being available to non-members, I don't see this register as in any way eliteist.

The e-mail bulletin does work well for our region, which is what gave me the idea.

Hi Paul

I`m from Hertfordshire too [:)][:)]

I have limited time available (I work long hours in London[]) but will try to help if I can in any way.
