1st Service and 111 point check

I have just been called by my OPC and the car has gone through its first service (two years) and 111 point check for the extended warranty.

Apparently there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car (in terms of the 111 check or service work needed)! [:D]

Oh happy days. It appears that (for the moment at least) I have a good'un.

Good to hear

Just beware of my cousin Murphy and his law[:(]

Nice ot hear some peoples cars are OK

If you get the car in prior to the old warranty running out and if that item was indeed covered by the old warranty then its good news..

Marc, pleased to hear the goood news for you [:)]

At a recent shocker I purchased some wiper blades from the OPC, cheaper than Helfrauds...!!

Don't tell everyone but I also got them to waive the cost of the 111 point survey (£172) . Perhaps not a great victory as they do them free every so often, but a surprise to me when they said okay! [:D]

It is important to ahve the survey / service done before your existing warranty runs out, that way if something does need doing, and it is warranty covered, then yes the warranty would pay. The new warranty does not start until the existing one runs out.

Hi Marc,

Mine's due fairly soon and I'm confused as to the price of extending the warranty with this 111 point check.

If your car did need something highlighted by the check, would the would the warranty have covered this?

Thanks
Ben

There are lots of items not covered by the warranty, but in order to get the new warranty, they would have to be fixed/replaced e.g disks/wipers/rads (if you're unlucky)/expansion tank etc

I recently had my first service at 2 years old, 14,000 miles. I told Porsche Guildford up front that I was renewing my warranty which they quoted £1,350.00 - a figure I was familiar with, and happy with. When I went to collect the car, the service manager said 'and we have waived the inspection fee for you sir seen as you are having the service done' that saved me about £200 all told - something I was prepared to pay for and didn't haggle.

Hi Guys

Some confirmation if possible please, I purchased a C2S cab from Bristol OPC in august 08 the car will be 2 years old in June this year, I was told that I had the balance of the original warranty and then a further 1 year used car warranty, this would mean that I don't need to worry until June 10. I cannot find anything in writing to confirm if this is correct. This is my 3rd Porsche the 1st was an 04, 1 year old Boxster from Solihull who told me exactly the same as Bristol OPC but I never had cause to use the warranty and changed the car in 06 for a new Boxster which was equally reliable and traded against the C2S. After reading the issues and possible costs I checked for confirmation of my own warranty situation without success. Can anyone advise.

Thanks
Geoff

Buying from an OPC you would certainly get 1 years of warranty... however they may have included in that what was left of the manufacturers, so I possibly say its down to individual deals on what the dealer has given you...[&:]
Maybe worthwhile contacting the supplying dealer/saleman to 'request' if you have the extended warranty booklet or something along those lines.

I'm fortunate to have two porsches but unfortunately both are coming up to 2 years old and so I have been discussing the extended warranty options with my OPC. The OPC tells me there is no flexibility over warranty costs - it is £1350 for 12 months for each car (to include the 111 point check) despite my also paying for both cars to be serviced at the same time (although I do get a 10% club membership discount on the services).

Before I try and negotiate (or ring around other OPCs) can you please confirm I have not misunderstood you - you paid £1350 less £172/£200 respectively for the 12 month extended warranty including the 111 point check?

Thanks

Keith

I have heard some incredible tales of the Warranty being refused because of a non standard battery, wipers, etc. Has anyone heard of it being refused because of Ventureshield/Paintshield protection on the front of the car?

I have heard of one delaership turning a car down because of a protective covering, I have however read many that have used common sense and accepted the car as is.

There is luckily more than one OPC in the UK, so it's good advice to shop around, loyalty is earned - not a given right.

Thanks for that Gary. I will check with my OPC in plenty of time and shop around if necessary.

Geoff, your warranty will run from the end of the new car one - ie you get an extra year when your car reaches 2 years old. The new warranty should just come through in the post via Bristol. If it doesn't give them a bell - they are good.

Thanks for that, I did take Gary's advice and rang Bristol who confirmed as you say that I get the full 2yr new warranty and then an additional year. Not bad when you think I also saved £22K off list for a 7000 mile car 14 mths old as well as now saving £1350 for another year. Well done Porsche !!
