Had my 996 C2 for 5 months now and i love it! What an excellent buy that was. Brings a smile everytime i drive her![8D] In fact, everytime i walk past her[:)]

Serviced at 58,000 miles - £ 374.50p - and nothing wrong. Thats my first service and I'm over the moon with that.

OP warranty has been used twice, once minor, once more serious,,,but warranty covered everything and they pickedup and redelivered very quickly. Strange thing to say....but made breaking down a pleasure to have everything run so smoothly and quickly. Warranty is well worth the money.

OPC hatfield did want to give me new windscreen wipers, which i had replaced at OPhatfield 3 weeks previously.[] Cheeky sods then tried to hard sell me 4 new tyres!

so...........i need new tyre's not from OPC Hatfield - any top tips?

I currently have Continental sport contact 2's 18in

Seconded on the Pilot Sports - worth checking what price the OPC will do them for, you may get a surprise.

I got a surprise! OPC Tonbridge wanted £303 inc vat fitted for each rear !!! []

I only mentioned it 'cause garyw found OPC Silverstone very competative - obviously varies between them [:)]

The man from OPC hatfield was insistent the rears where illegal, but after trying to sell me windscreen wipers i didn't need i was not having his hard sell rubbish. Thats what i do for a living and i can smell it from a mile away! Telling me if i get stopped i will lose my licence.....please!

From what i understand, when those little bobbles in the groove of the tire are level with rest of the tyre...they need changing. correct me i'm i wrong. they are close but not level.

invoice says :
lhf/nsf 5mm 5mm 4mm
rhf/osf 6mm 7mm 6mm
lhr/nsr 3mm 1.6mm 1.6mm
rhr/osr 3mm 2mm 2mm

one of the front tyre has a Bosch in it from hitting a curb somewhere, so that defo needs replacing.

Hatfield said "i suppose you could get away with "just" three tyres."

Driving down to france for 2 weeks holiday in a couple of weeks, so just want to make sure all everything all fine and dandy. Wife is on Easyjet........[:D]

ps. Hi Rodney...hope your HiFi's doing what it's told. I upgraded to a Linn Kairn....[;)]
pps Hi Pwafer...I love my spoiler![;)]

Leave one of the fronts they have lots of tread left in them, the rears should both go though.

Lol, the hifi needs upgrading. (don't they always) Driving 6 foot Magnepan panels with a tube amp is a no-no......... not.....enough......power! Guess you don't have that problem with yur Linn setup[;)]

I had ATS Euromaster (Camden North London) fit new Michelin Pilot Sport N1s all around in March for £791.33 (including balancing and wheel alignment).

Their original quote was closer to £900, but after I mentioned two cheaper quotes from www.blackcircles.com and www.mytyres.co.uk, ATS Euromaster came back and beat both by about £40.

Not bad I thought - and I agree with pwafer - superb tyre.

Interesting point on tyre pressures - the 996 manual recommends 44psi for the rears. But Steve from Jaz Porsche (independent in Wembley) recommends 36psi all around. Interestingly my rear tyre wear has been a lot better since...

Lovely, thanks relies...thats given me a lot to get my teeth into today. i'm only 15 mins from Camden so will call them.

When i replace one front tyre, does that need to be the same make as other front tyre? or do they just need to be compatable?

re HiFi, yes happy with that upgrade, so no need for any more for a while now[:)]

You shouldn't mix tyre types on an axle, they should be the same make/model/N spec. Hopefully it's your nsf that needs replacing?
Call Wembley tyres first on 0208 451 5984. Cheaper than any other place I've heard of.

Could well be worth checking out prices in France - especially for Michelins. I heard some people going to Nurburgring got better tyre prices in Germany, so France must be worth a phone call / google or two. Years ago, I found that Mobil 1 was about half price from Carrefour.

I have just had 2 new rears (295/30/18) and 2 new fronts (225/40/18) from Northway tyres. I was undecided between the PZeroes and the Contis, went for the Pirelli in the end and the total bill including VAT and fitting etc was under £750! I was very happy, considering I called up on Sat morning without ordering and they sourced them from there warehouse and I had them fitted within the hour. They have locations in Hendon, Watford, Edgware and on the North Circular so should be fine for you from Camden. The manager at Hendon is called Darren and is a good guy....

Yes, luckily its the front left tyre with a gash in it, but i will check prices for all 4, maybe get a better deal. will make a load of calls this afternoon.

Getting all excited for my holiday now, booked the Tunnel, got my sunsglasses repaired & bought some suntan lotion too...........happy dayzzzzzz[8D]

perfect.....now i know what i should be aiming for. Cheers

Hi, had all 4 tyres changed at Kwik fit - 18'' P zeros all round £501 the lot. They have a make on special every month, 15% off for 2 tyres and 25% off a set of 4. They will also price match any previous tyres you have purchased. Worth keeping and eye out if tyres dont need changing at the moment, could save an awful lot of money! But haggle.
