Hello all,

I'm considering trading in my 2.5 for a newer 2.7 Boxter (02 or newer) Is there a major noticable performace difference between these?

Hello all,

Yes.

The 2.7 is not only a better engine (more torque and power giving better fuel cons, mid range and top range shove and a better noise), the car would benefit from a number of obvious and less obvious ways. The late pre-facelift cars (ie, 2.7's from around 2000 onwards) would have the 3 spoke steering wheel, electronic lid releases, alu interior door handles etc and it a much better car to spend time in.

Your '02 or later car would be a post-facelift, and would be a still greater improvement. The 2.7 engine was given even more power and torque, and the whole car freshened again with the obvious improvement of a glass rear window, plus trim, equipment and cabin material and drivetrain improvements.

So in summary, you'll not only get better performance, you'll get a better car overall.

Pre-face lift 220 post 8 or 10 more - someone will come along soon with the answer!
