Hi Can anyone please help? I have a 2.7 2000 Boxster that has started to smoke when i start it in the morning, the smoke is white and soon disapears, I think it smells a little of white sprit but could be wrong, It is not using any water or oil, still runs very well, and dose not smell of burnt oil, any feed back would be welcome
Thanks
Ian

Hi,
My 2000 boxster did the same thing, fairly irregularly though. My current one, a 2005 model, occasionally does the same. There's something about this topic elsewhere on this forum, just too lazy to find it for you right now, sorry - gotta work!! :)

I don't think you need to worry - it's normal and all to do with it being a flat-six engine and the way the oil settles when it hasn't been running. If you put in a search on this site you will find other threads that should put your mind at rest. My 2.7 does it as well depending on the temperature and humidity.

Guaranteed to do it when your neigbours are watching! [&:]

It is nothing to worry about as long as it stops in good time.

My 2000 'S' has occasionally blown out blueish smoke in the morning - normal oil seepage. However it recently began to produce whiteish smoke on almost every start up, and even once whilst driving - very disconcerting! - the problem was the air/oil separator. Once replaced everything was back to normal.
