2.7 ltr smoke & ratle on cold start??

I'm about to buy a 2.7ltr Boxster from a main dealer, It has 10k miles on the clock & was first registered in Oct 2007 - so lots of warranty left. One thing though - when started from cold the tappets(?) rattled & a puff of blue smoke came from the exhaust. I guess it may have been sitting idle on the forecourt for a few weeks - the salesman said this was "normal - the tappet noise goes when it warms up after 10 minutes - they all do that when cold". Is it so guys???? Or is it saleman's bull...t? I'm hoping he's telling it straight as it's a really nice car.

Sorry about that - but I'm very impressed with the speedy - and polite - response. When I'm a Boxster owner - next Tuesday - I won't hesitate to come here again.
