2.7 versus 2.5 engines

Hi Guys,

The following query has come to me, is it just a muppet of a spares salesman or is there a wrong engine here?

PS, it's not me shouting [8|]



WE WONDERED IF YOU CAN PLEASE HELP WE HAVE A 944 FIRST REGISTERED ON 25/08/1989 AND BOUGHT AS A 2.7 LITRE. ENGINE NUMBER ACCORDING TO THE V5 IS 46K61009 AND CHASSIS NO WPOZZZ94ZKN403626 OUR PROBLEM IS THAT ON PURCHASING A NEW DISTRIBUTOR CAP THE ONE GIVEN HAD THE CONNECTIONS ALL FACEING DOWN, OURS POINTS DIRECTLY OUTWARD WE HAVE A NEW ONE USING THE BOSCH NUMBER FROM THE OLD ONE, THE GUY IN THE SHOP SAID THAT IT IS A 2.5LITRE ONE NOW THE QUESTION IS WAS THAT YEAR A CHANGE IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM USING UP 2.5 BITS BEFORE CHANGING TO A DIFFRENT SYSTEM FOR 2.7 HAVE WE A 2.5LITRE ENGINE IN A 2.7 CAR ? I HAVE TRIED TO LOOK AT THE ENGINE NUMBER BUT CANT SEE IT. PLEASE HELP WE NEED TO GET THE CAR SERVICED SOON AND NEED TO KNOW WHICH ENGINE WE, HAVE ITS ALSO INSURED AS A 2.7 AND IF ITS NOT WE NEED TO CHANGE THIS. MANY THANKS
