2.7L engine on ebay

£750 is quite a lot for a head and some scrap iron [:D][:D][:D][:D][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]Actually - can you use the 2.7 crank or not, Paul?[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
 
If you use the 2.7 crank you'll stay with a 2.7 engine (which could be bored out 2mm to make a 2.9)

You need the short throw crank from an S2 or 968 to make a 3 litre car (Hartech and Porsch-apart had several when I was looking for circa £200 depending on condition)
 
That's what I thought, but when we spoke about it last (Husborne?) it was still speculation.

Is that short or long? Would of though you needed a longer throw to get more displacement.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear [8|]

The 2.5 and 2.7 engines use the same 'normal throw' crankshaft. The 2.5 has 100mm bores and the 2.7 has 104mm bores which gives it the extra capacity.

The S2 (and 968) use a 'short throw' crankshaft and have 104mm bores to make their 3 litre capacity.

If you use a short throw crank in a 2.5 engine then you end up with a 2.8 (but you also need 2.8 pistons)
