2.9 Cayman?

Hi everyone, newbie here, I'm not an owner yet I currently drive a BMW 135i coupe.

Anyway enough swaring on the forum, [;)] I recently test drove a Cayman S and was very very impressed at the poise and balance of the car, I have since been looking for a good low mileage model for around £30K, the only problem is they all sit around 3+ years old and I don't fancy the prospect of a 4 year service after 6 months of ownership.

This prompted the though of a new Cayman, as they now have the 2.9 engine and MT6 gearbox
so I was wondering what you good people thought.

Many thanks.

Can't help with your question re the Cayman but I'd be interested in your thoughts on the 135i as I fancy one as a replacement for my 330i. I hear it's a stonking car so I'm surprised to hear that you want to change for a Cayman. Is it that you just fancy a change? Cheers James

It's is a stonking car James and to be honest I struggling to justify the change this time, usually I can find a good reason(s) to change, but the 135i has so much going for it, the Cayman S, I tested handled better than the 135, but it lacked low end torque, but most things do over the BMW. I just get itchy feet after about a year and end up wanting something different.

i can understand it perfectly!! having had an M3 or two and 330i i would have a cayman s anytime[:D]

Had a drive in a 2.9 at Chester OPC. Very impressed. Noticably quicker than the 2.7 (also tested one of those which I almost bought). Lovely gearbox, sublime handling as ever. Can't believe how much more room there is than our Boxster - it feels really spacious inside.

[&o]Would your Boxster be a 986? I have a 987 and a colleague has a 2.7 Kman and I find no difference!

That's right - it's a 2004. Front boot is loads bigger on the 987 too.

I took the Gen 2 Cayman out in the end, and was offered a really good deal on this, I couldn't resist it, so I went for it and am now the owner

ORIGINAL: HarryBox4899 Hey Spoonie....that looks great! Enjoy it. (you may know me on another forum as the guy waiting for his 135......)
Hi Mate Hows it going, when do you get the 135?

Hmmm.....thats a difficult one - its says Le Mans Blue on the order at present, currently changing daily, hehe. 2nd choice is space grey, we will see.

If I was to have one again, I'd go Space grey, it looks class IMHO and you know my views on LMB [;)]
