1. with the sports exhaust, if they unplug the connection (?) in the engine bay in order to leave it continually 'active', does that mean that it's 'on' all the time or simply all the time when it's switched to 'on' on the dash? In other words, can you still have it totally off at the push of the button say, for example, if the Rozzers check you out?

2. All that 'Zymol' 48 stage prep' that sounds like it takes
3 1/2 weeks to do...is it very different from, say, Autoglym and if it is that great, does anyone know of someone who you could trust to do it, get it right and not swizz you?
I'm in Herefordshire & Shropshire/Cheshire at weekends.

Once again, many thanks.

I'm in Herefordshire & Shropshire/Cheshire at weekends. 3.5 weeks without the car when you could be driving it.......

Once again, many thanks.

I have my exhaust unplugged for the engine bay. It means that its constantly switched on. You would have to plug it back in to switch it off.

More on the PSE. Mine was retro fitted and I do not have Sports Chrono. I havent seen anyone yet mention to Blondelawman that in switched on mode the exhaust only reverts to quiet mode whilst passing through around 28 to 34 mph. Then its back to hooligan mode thereafter. And when switching engine off it defaults to off. So for me the switch is all so very useful. Problems start when the old lady asks what the new swith is for. It opens cubby for sunglasses praps.

Zymol isn't that bad to apply, especially on a new car. Just give your self the best part of an evening & you'll be done. I used the Glasur kit the other night, started at 6.30 and was done by 9.30 and it's so simple to use. I just washed the car the night before so it dried completely. The following night I went at it with the HD cleanse which preps the paint for the wax coat, this stuff's great as it smells and looks like chocolate sauce...mmmm. The next step involves you melting the wax in your hand and massage it over the bodywork (again it smells good enough to eat), you then wipe down the surface after a minute and you've got a glass finish with no white residue. At £149.00 it's not the cheapest but it does make the job a little more of an experience and if your turning heads with that sport exhaust, your going to want her to look all nice and shiny[:)]

On the detailing front I can highly recommend a guy I got through the Scottish region forum. Dave is his name and I can give you details of his services. he arrived at my house at seven in the morning and detailed my car to a standard of quality that I have never seen bettered. He was still there at six at night. - fabulous and i know he travels all over.< he is a pccb member>

Hope this is useful
You can find the after photos on the Scottish forum under 'PAINT PROTECTION' . Its a few weeks back.

thanks Hubertus, Blaine54 & Dave C.

I didn't know that, re: the PSE; from what the dealer said, i was under the impression that it 'cut-out' whenever the revs got above a certain level...good to know. Strange speed band to cut-out in, wonder why they did that?

The wax job; thanks for the info' there too; very much appreciated.

Hi
I have the Autoglym 'Lifeshine' treatment on both my 997S and Audi S4, and they are both worth the money IMHO (about £350) plus you get a nice big holdall of autoglym products to keep it looking good. Interior also gets a treatment of something akin to scotchguard to help protect against marks.
However, Zymol is in another league altogether, especially on darker coloured cars, which look absolutely stunning.
If I had the choice again, I would have kept lifeshine for my silver 997S and gone for Zymol for the phantom black pearl S4.
Just my humble penneth'worth.

Well, I stand corrected on the sports exhaust, I wrote that rubbish after just driving home from having it fitted. It seems to go soft during wide throttle epening up to about 50 mph. Less vigorous use of throttle can leave exhaust in sports mode right through the 0 to 50 mph range. So I can see myself unplugging connection like everyone else seems to. Its a fantastic note though, even just burbling through traffic.
