Hi,

Need to get 2 x 225/40/18 tyres, was planning on going for Mihelin's, can anyone advise any places to buy, trying to find a good price, I found costco doing them for £140 fitted.

Was even interested in getting some good part worn's not sure if anyone knows any places that might do these?

Thanks

You won't beat that Costco price - unless you live near Bracknell Tyres or Micheldever (they are about the only other places worth trying given your quote so far)

Or Elite Garages at Mannings Heath (near Horsham)

They are Club Sponsors and you'll get a good deal (assuming you are a Club Member?)

I had 2 rears fitted today, (265/40/18) which cost me an arm and a leg, but were a great deal believe it or not.

I got them from Protyre which ultimately is where Micheldever fit in. The outlet I went to got them shipped from micheldever anyway and funnily enough dropped the price by 5.00 lower than micheldever.

There are about 20 Protyre outfits (including mobile) in the south of England.

Bracknell Tyres - £129
Micheldever/Pro Tyres - £135 (but nearest location to me is 150+)
Elite Garages - £185

So Bracknell the best so far. Thanks for the pointers, will post back if I find anything better, although I think this might be the end of the road.

Also does it matter that I have Pirello P Zero Assemetrico on the rears? They still have 6-7mm of tread so will be a while till I change them to Michelin's

I wouldn't reccomend it.

(Where did you find assimetricos? A great tyre no longer available!)

If your rears are still ok, then I would go for the Rosso's on the front.
Better yet would be the same type all round (the exception to this was the P-Zero Direczionalle/Assimetrico System which had specific different patterns front/rear that worked together.

You're not going to like this...

I've no idea.

In fact only someone who has tried it could know.
They may work fantastically, they may be lethal [&:]

But whatever, the recommendation is always same tyres all round.
The golden rule is do not mix on the same axle.
Tyre patterns are designed to work with the same tyre front/rear. Porsche and the tyre companies spend vast sums of money and considerable time testing the tyres in all conditions, they wouldn't do it if it didn't really matter what gets thrown at the car in the end.

I seem to recall John Bond (JCB) saying he had Pirelli fronts and Continental rears for a while with no ill effects, but that doesn't mean it's going to work with your combination.

My personal recommendation. Get the same tyres all round. You could always sell the Assimetricos on...

Do you have any ideas on sell on prices? Look like there in good condition and have 6-7mm on them

Then I have to price up 265/35/18 (thats gonna hurt) -- although I have a concern on this, because the rear wheels the rim seems to come out further then the front, meaning I think the tyre should be wider

I will post pics see if anyone can advise, I am not even sure what rims they are, but they are not OP

The first pictures is the Rosso on the Front, which I think lines up OK.

This is the Rear Tyre, you can see if you look really hard how its further in then the Rosso

Assuming these are the turbo look 18" versions then they are the same as on mine and yes the rears are 265/35/18.

Good luck with the search.

What width are the rear rims ? - were thye factory fit or a later addition - looks like you may have wider than stock rims, which would explain why the rim has little or no protection from the tyre wall

not the best pic but this was my old 986 with turbo look II factory wheels - tyres are michelin pilot sport. Tyre wall give a little protection to the rim edge
