2 Quick Questions

Here goes,

1. Does anyone know the size of the two star shaped bolts which are either side of the rear hatch pins, holding the block which the pins sit in onto the tailgate? I need to remove them but none of my Torx bits fit (wrong size and not enough points!)

2. Are the mirrors meant to be 'curved', ie concave or convex? I replaced my passenger one with a 2nd hand one from ebay and it's noticeably concave giving a really poor/narrow view of what's behind.

1. not sure on size of spline but I replaced mine a few weeks ago and used an allen key.. may have been a 6 but you'll see which one fits best.. worked fine

2. Just took a look at mine.. it's convex

Sounds like you need the wierd 'cheeshead'/XZN sockets!

I got a great set from Tools Today when I recently did the head (they're also used for the camshaft sprocket and holding the camshafts in)

I bought a cheap set at the kit car show recently, just for this job, as I found it a bit of a nightmare to them track down. I can check which size fits it tonight if you like (and if you're local you're welcome to borrow it).

Not had my car long, but my driver's side is fairly flat, which I don't mind, and my passenger side is convex - so I get the best of both worlds! Not sure what was standard when new.

If you can let me know what size they are that'd be great, I really don't want to round them off. I'm near Hull so probably a bit far to borrow them, thanks for the offer though [:D]

I've managed to find one at work which fits [:D]

It's got 'M6' marked on it. Just hope the bolts will come out now [;)]

If not, then it'll be plan B, a drill plus an 8mm bit [:D]

Plan A worked fine, just hoping the new pins have sorted the knocking hatch problem [:D]

(PS the bolts are M6 so a 6mm drill [;)])
