2 Way Radios

As many of you will know several of us have 2 way radios which we use on events. These can add even more to the enjoyment of the event: an enjoyment over dose even.

Generaly it means we can continue to rib each other when we leave the car park but it does have more practical advantages - noting hazards ahead, direction changes etc. As far as I'm aware it isn't illegal to use two way radios in a car at this time, but it is your choice. You could just listen after all.

We have often posted about "See you on Channel 500" and some may be concerned that their radios might not go that high. Several of us us BT Freeway FM radios which, I believe, no longer exist. These have lots of bands, hence the 500 (899 in total). However, my understanding is they are using what used to be known as "side bands" to get the total up.

So, in summary, I believe if you have a radio with only 8 FM channels we will be on 5 - 80 channels we will be on 50 etc.

I hope this makes sense and I would welcome comments from those without BT Freeway radios to confirm or otherwise.

Yup thats the case - At Frontrunners my humble radios' "Channel 5" was the equivalent.

The radios are good fun - hopefully this time nothing will fall off anyones cars to break up the convoys ! [;)]
