2000 Mile Trip

Hello Everyone.
Just thought I'd post on here about how well my C2S performed on a recent Euro Tour. I don't post often but the car was so good whilst at the same time exceeding my expectations that I thought I had to.
Drove via the chunnel to Le Mans for a few days. Weather brilliant, Houx Annex so mental this year I was glad to be on the Porsche campsite. On the one occassion I popped out I got collared by a load of Danes who wanted photo's which was a good laugh.
I then did a motorway blitz over to Cologne (sight seeing) and Stuttgart for the World Cup before driving back home in terrible conditions on the Sunday night after going to watch the England versus Ecuador game (hail, thunderstorms, loads of standing water etc etc).
The car was superb and pulled cleanly to over 160mph on a derestricted section of the autobahn. Even managed to get an evening lap at the ring in for good measure.
In addition, I managed to pack a weeks worth of camping equipment, a weeks worth of normal luggage and a pregnant wife too!
Overall, a really great time and the yellow peril was brilliant. Just need another holiday now to relax!

Yep
Just got back from 2 week trip to the South of France and the C2S was an absolute joy - took 2 weeks worth of clobber for the wife and I (including telescopic fishing rod & tackle!!) and despite some 'spirited' driving on near-empty patches of autoroute still managed to return 24.7mpg overall. Had a nice little 'tussle' with a 650i Sport Beemer near Carcassone, and despite being 2-up with luggage, comprehensively outdragged him every time (he gave a thumbs up as we parted company and he turned off). Car was comfy for over 600km on one day and didn't use a drop of oil throughout - the car attracted some approving looks at fuel stations etc, and one yellow GT3 pilot nearly made me jump out of my skin[&:] as he shot by waving and frantically honking his horn just as I was getting back into it!
We even had plenty room for wifes new clothes and other stuff bought down there.
Despite 38C temperatures, city and motorway traffic, heavy wind and the odd rain storm, the car performed faultlessly.
Truly, the car for all seasons and occasions!
Porsches - don't you just love 'em??[:D]

We were down at Houx Island on the Friday night, it was a bit crazy, but spectator heaven, it wasn't yourself and your fine lady that we met there was it ??

I also ran up over 2K on my Lemans trip, but did have a blast along the west coast and onto the Normandy Beaches.. pleasure all the way and the car didn't miss a beat

Hello Gary,

Yes that was me! (and the wife)
I've just been laughing to myself remembering the bloke who fell out of Saab whilst it was slidding around the roundabout. I won't even start on the pirateship.....
Glad to hear the car was OK.
Cheers
Rob

:ROFLMAO: Yes the Saab, made even funnier by the fact that he kept hold of his case of beer [:D]...

Pirate ship was excellent, it must have taken them ages to build that, cannons water jets and fireworks all attached.. really did show the spirit of the event... Some have slated the events taking place on the Island, but as a spectator is was hilarious...

I will definately be going there again on the Friday night..[:)]

The ring adventure proved to be a classic example of how being badly organised can sometimes work in your favour. I found out en route to Cologne that it would only be open for a couple of hours in the early evening on the day(s) we'd have a chance to drive it.

On the day we picked we left early to get there, got stuck in traffic following a major accident and then lost after my wife accused the Sat Nav of lying (I blame the pregnancy). To cut a long story short we arrived at the barrier at 7:28pm with the ring set to close at 7:30pm. We then realised we hadn't got a ticket and a queue was gently forming behind for the last lap. Having reversed out of the way the boss dashed into the shop and bought a ticket and we were ready to go. As she jumped in one of the stewards told me that I was the last car allowed on that night - 10 seconds later I was on the track and alone.

The lap I got was brilliant, not the quickest but a real taster of all of the cambers and the realisation that however many times you lap it on the playstation in an Audi R8 you never do it enough to give you complete confidence over some of the crests on the track. I look back now and imagine I drove in a similar fashion to the RUF fascination video, it was probably more akin to a bit of a potter. I enjoyed though and got a sticker for the car and thats all that matters.

Great experience and amazing to think of all the legends who've performed there and the speeds they achieved.

As for the pirate ship: genius. I've seen pics in the Le Mans section of the pistonheads website. I'll be there next year - babysitter permitting
