Going to look at a 2001 fried egg headlight 996 C4 cabrio, but I'm confused.com. It has a 3.6 engine which I didn't think arrived until the facelift model in '02. Any thoughts please?

Christopher!

You are correct - the 3.6 engine was introduced on the facelift for Model Year 2002 (September 2001 on). If it has the GT1 headlights, it is pre-facelift.

That's not to say it couldn't have had a 3.6 engine retrofitted, but it is a huge amount of work to do this properly. Not only does it need to be fitted with the later DME to control the Variocam Plus, but it also needs lots of re-wiring to retrofit the CAN bus electronics. And then there is the returnless fuel system......the list goes on and on. Most likely it is a misprint, or the seller is misinformed.

Thanks Richard. I'll ask them to check the v5; as you say it could be a mispront. If it isn't, then I'll probably walk away.

It should also have a glove box if 2002 model and serial no should be WPOZZZ99Z2S_______
the '2' before the S is the year.
