2002 C4S phone system

My car has a Nokia phone cradle fiited on the dash which, I'm told, should go through the speakers on the radio, although there's no buttons etc showing on the radio.

How does this system work and can you fit different phones etc by simply switching over the cradle?

Or is it a trip to the nearest OPC?
 
Just had an auto electrician look at it and he's suggested fitiing a parrot unit, so now I'm totally befuddled.

I think he means replacing the existing cradle with a blue tooth thingy for my existing mobile etc.

I have a Parrot 3100 fitted and it is great. If you have a CDR23 fitted it mute the radio and uses the font driver speaker for sound. It is the best option available.
