2003 Cayenne S "leak"

Hi Folks

Apologies if this has been posted and replied to before but I did a quick search and couldn't see anything that matched the problem.

I have just acquired a 2003 Cayenne S and it has been a joy with no problems at all. However, a couple of days ago my coolant level warning light came on and on checking the level it was a little low, but nothing drastic and it was topped up. I've had no problems with temperature and it runs really well.
Yesterday and today I've noticed a very small puddle of fluid under the car - it's behind the front wheel on the right hand side. It's not oil, looks like water and doesn't smell or taste sweet (sorry!) or of anything, so it's doesn't appear to be coolant. I've even put a white tissue on it and it has no colour - my coolant is red so I'd expect at least a pinky hue if it was that. As far as I'm concerned it's water but I have no clue as to where it is coming from. Could it be from the air con or a leak on the washer reservoir? I've only used the air con over the last few days because I'm not a fan of it and usually drive with the windows open instead.
I know that Cayenne have issues with the coolant pipes but they have all been renewed by the previous owner and I have the receipts as proof.

Any advice gratefully received.

Regards

Helena

Thanks for the swift response. That's what I was thinking, so hopefully it's nothing sinister. I'll keep an eye on the coolant level over the next week just in case. I can't think what else it might be, but don't want to risk driving it if it's likely to be anything damaging.

Regards

Hi Helena
The water is almost certainly the aircon. Even though you like the windows open it is not a bad idea to regularly run with the aircon operating, even if the temperature is not set that low. It keeps the system functioning and the bearings lubricated etc. and it's an expensive piece of kit to fix if it seizes up.
Glad you're enjoying the experience of ownership, the Cayenne is a fantastic vehicle IMO.

I would say it is most certainly the windscreen wash reservoir.
It happens on my cayenne if i overfill .

Thanks everyone for all of your advice.

It does look as though it is condensation from the air con, so my mind is at rest.

Again, many thanks

Helena

Good News Day ?
I venture to suggest that with the current very warm weather that you have had to use air con to keep cabin cool.
If so the "leak" could well be condensation droplets from condenser pipes [8D] -once parked up- hopefully so and no worries !
Clear clean liquid indicates .
