2005 987 - CDR 24 Stereo not working!

Hi all,

Here's an odd one... haven't used the car for a 2 weeks except to move it in and out of the garage to move the other car. Yesterday I decided to take her out for a run then noticed simply there's no music. Looked down to the stereo and pressed the on/off button, the stereo lit up and PORSCHE appears in the display and there it remains!

The CD ejects and can be placed back in - just nothing!

No music, no radio, no CD... any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris,

First thing to try, check again this morning post locking the car overnight. (Yes locking car makes a difference).

Hey Nick thanks for the reply...

Well its had a near 12 hour break and I just tried it again to no avail. It was locked and left in the garage... this is real strange. Just opened it now and was presented with PORSCHE in the display and there it remained. No sound, nothing!

OK whereabouts are you? I reset one of these for another member a couple of months ago. Assuming there are no underlying head/amp issues it's a 5-10 minute job with a PIWIS.

Typically i'm sure there's the huge figure of miles between our 2 locations... Thanks for the offer Nick! Is this a common fault or something you've seen before?

I'm West London ... but it's always worth asking ... last guy was 10 miles down the road.

It is a thing I have seen before; typically the amp is ok and the head unit has either frozen or doesn't see the amp. If there are no indicated faults in the head unit a system wake-up usually cures things. The wake-up is the simplest way to cure it but isn't necessarily the quickest. The last one I did by recoding just the head unit but unless you know what your doing it's like shooting at a target blindfolded.

Once again, thanks for the replies Nick and the offer to help... Hey you never know, if my local Porsche Specialist fails I may come knocking!

I'll report my fault to him tomorrow and i'll let you know what the outcome is.

Chris

Well i was going to suggest the option of disconnecting the battery for a minute or two... I guess its looking like a trip to OPC next week. Delightful!

Thanks for the advice...
