2005 Boxster 987 spoiler stuck up

I'm looking for some help on a fault with my 2005 Boxster 987 model rear spoiler stuck in the up position. The fault first appeared 2 weeks ago when driving the car to work in the morning. The spoiler came up at 75mph and a red warning appeared on the dashboard saying rear spoiler fault and re-appears each time I reach 75mph with the spoiler stuck in the up position. I've owned the car since May 2016 and only really driven it in the dry. The car has 2 previous owners with the last owner only having it for 6 months before emigrating back to New Zealand. It only has 55k miles with FPSH. I've checked the obvious things like the fuse (Row A - F3 15amp) and any signs of water leak or dampness around the BCU which there are none. Any help to diagnose the fault would be really appreciated.

Does the manual over ride switch in the drivers footwell work? Have you tested the relays in the near side rear boot, there are two which assist in the operation of the spoiler?
Have you tried a few squirts of WD 40 on the chromed tubes?

Thanks for your reply. I Can't find anything that looks like a manual over ride switch in drivers footwell, but I have found some relays in near side rear boot:

Do you know which relay(s) for the spoiler?

My spoiler problems were with a 986. It appears that there a number of differences between the two models, particularly with the relays. The 986 has more relays in the rear boot.

The manual switch on a 987 is on the bottom row of the centre console switches. Have you tried putting it down manually with this switch?

There is no relay for the spoiler on a 987, it is controlled by the rear control unit, which looks like this

Thanks for your post. The manual switch at the bottom of the centre console lights up, but doesn't operate the spoiler anymore.

Where can I find the rear control unit situated?

I think it's under the front passenger seat. If you take the seat out, do NOT turn the ignition on or you'll trigger the airbag light.
