When centre console, sport mode button , picture of shock absorber on button , is depressed .........................suspension difference very obvious ,is there any change on engine performance activated at same timme please >its 04/05 model
Many Porsche s but first Cayenne !

I'm pretty sure there is no change in engine performance...Maybe an idea to read the handbook...

With sport button selected you get a sharper throttle response and gears are held higher up the rev range - it also 'learns' how you are driving to an extent and if you are pressing on will hang on to gears through corners on a trailing throttle, for instance. For a big beast it's great fun when you get the opportunity to give it the beans.

+1 for above.

Also on my Cayenne in sport you will start in 1st rather than the usual 2nd gear.

Another aspect i have noticed if you disengage the traction control the car acts very similar to the sport selection, 1st gear take away and holds the gear higher up the range, manual shifts via the tip are quicker.

Many thks for ur responses.......dont mean to be a smart arse but if it helps someone else ....................................

From a long standing director of Porsche Cars i bumped into yesterday ...........my old Cayenne, 2005, sport button ,on center console, as opposed to on dash, only firms up suspension ............................the later models with sport mode button below screen [ as below /on dash] changes the ECU mode as well .......sharpening up throttle response ....................i have experienced this taking off pse ,applying sport mode in C4S TIP while on ice driving course last year.reults are lots of fun !

Consumption my current day to day interest in Cayenne commuting wud be disastrous!
