2005 S - No central radiator!

I was stunned last night to notice that the 2005MY S has no "extra" central radiator!
The hole in the middle of the bumper-cover is actually blanked off with a piece of shaped black plastic.

I asked Jeff Moyes (the Guildford tech guy, and club member) about it and just got "it's more efficient" as a reply.
He did say the Tiptronic would likely have a radiator here.

What does eveyone think?
I feel rather uncomfortable about it - it's pretending something is there that isn't[&:]

What you were told is confirmed by the 987 product information publication. The 3rd coolant radiator is gone and will be used for a tiptronic transmission fluid radiator. This is what a 996 tiptronic had.

Porsche says that the 2 coolant radiators are larger. The water pump has a higher flow rate. And there are now variable speed radiator fans instead of the two-stage fans. Guess Porsche is satisfied this makes up for the lack of the 3rd radiator. The 3rd radiator did not have a fan anyway. Jeff

Yes, I saw tip-cars at the weekend and they had the 3rd radiator.

But what if the car is a 2.7 tip? This does not have an opening in the bumper-cover for the 3rd rad...

All complaints from 2.7 owners should be directed to Robert, not the club or Register Secretaries...
