I have a fairly early 987.1 Cayman with Porsche CDR24 audio and, I believe, the Porsche Sound Package option and no controls on the steering wheel.
There is what I think is an amplifier in the front compartment behind the tyre repair cover.
I do not understand what PCM 2.0/ 2.1/ 3.0 etc means but would like to upgrade the standard head unit to give me more functionality.
Basic requirements would be:
DAB radio as some of my preferred stations are now only on DAB
Handsfree mobile telephone usage
Satnav display via the phone - my daily is a Polo GTI which does not have satnav but has Apple CarPlay which uses the Google maps on the mobile phone which is connected via a USB cable.
My preference would be a wireless connection, if that is available.
I would like something that looks fairly restrained - I don't want fancy lights, buttons and gizmos - and that will fit in with the silver/grey fascia trim material.
I am not looking for high-end audio quality, just to be able to get some music and information on the move.
I would prefer installation by someone who knows what they are doing and am based in West Central Scotland
Can anyone provide any pointers on suitable hardware and possible installer recommendations?
Many thanks.
Alastair
